Dining

Dallas:

  • The Dining Car is located on the lobby level across from the Flower Elevator. It is open 24/7 and offers a variety of foods, drinks and snacks.
  • Atrium Cafe, near Seacrest Studios, is located on the Lower Level. In addition to its two dining choices, there is also a nearby room with vending machines. Food court hours are 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. 
  • Starbucks is located on the Lower Level and is open daily from 6 a.m. – 11 p.m.
  • Nourishment areas: There is a kitchen located in each inpatient unit. Complimentary coffee, an ice machine, refrigerator and microwave are provided for families. Please label any food that is left in the refrigerator appropriately.


Plano:

  • The Café is currently closed for renovations. Enjoy contactless ordering through Nutrislice by Children’s Health at childrens.nutrislice.com.
  • The Coffee Shop is located on the first floor of the atrium, near the information desk, and is open daily from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Nourishment areas: There is a kitchen located at the end of each inpatient hall. Complimentary coffee, an ice machine, refrigerator and microwave are provided for families. Please label any food that is left in the refrigerator appropriately.
  • Vending machines are located in the ER waiting area next to the concierge information desk and the first floor of the hospital near the elevators.

Fire Safety

We have fire drills from time to time. If you hear an alarm, stay where you are. In a real emergency, we will tell you what to do.


Forget Something?

Anyone coming through the ED will receive a text code to contact the comfort text line for necessities. Families can also reach out to the comfort line by calling 66388. Items provided may be donated by friends of Children’s Health.


Gift Shops

Dallas: 

The Children’s Corner Gift Shop offers toys, snacks, personal items from shampoo to phone chargers, and more. We are located in the lobby area near the Butterfly Elevators, next to Seacrest Studios.


Hours:
Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.


Plano

You can now order chocolates, stuffed animals, gift baskets and more from our new online gift shop. Call 877-887-3200.


Health & Wellness Library

Our Heath & Wellness Library is an online resource providing a wealth of information on a broad range of health topics for parents and children of all ages. Visit childrens.com/health-wellness to search hundreds of articles, videos and infographics to help you and your child prevent, understand and cope with various conditions and treatments.


Language Services

Interpretation is available in Spanish, American Sign Language (ASL) and many other spoken and sign languages. Language interpretation services are available 24/7.


Medical Emergency Team (MET)

Special Support to Prevent Emergencies

A MET response may be called for your child if their condition is getting worse or it looks like it is getting worse.


Who can call for a MET?

  • A provider, respiratory care practitioner (RCP) or registered nurse (RN) can call for the MET.
  • A parent/family member/legal guardian may ask a provider, RCP or RN to call for the MET.
  • Other people, such as students and volunteers, may call the patient’s provider, RCP or RN, who will in turn check the patient and call for the MET if needed.


Medicine

Please do not bring any medicine to the hospital unless your child’s doctor has asked you to. All medicine your child takes in the hospital needs to be prescribed, filled and given to your child by hospital team members. Tell the doctor about any medicine your child regularly takes. If it’s still needed, hospital team members will give it to your child.


Mobile App

Parking

Dallas: 

Free self-parking is located across from the hospital’s main entrance in the Blue Garage. Parking validation is offered for all visitors. Take your ticket from the parking kiosk into the building for validation. Individual clinics can also validate parking. Please do not leave the ticket in your car.


Free charging stations for electric vehicles are available on Level 1 in the southeast corner of the garage. Valet parking is located at the main entrance off Medical District Drive and is available Monday – Friday, 5:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.


Plano: 

Free self-parking is located across from the main entrance. A shuttle is available from Specialty Center 2 to Specialty Center 1.

Playrooms

Playrooms provide a fun and safe place for patients and families to get out of their room to enjoy playtime. Ask your child’s nurse for help finding the nearest playroom.


School Services

Do you have questions about how your child can continue with school during hospitalization or when they discharge? School support is provided to patients who attend preschool for children with disabilities, and for patients who are in grades K-12. School Services supports patients while they are hospitalized and during their outpatient treatments. For school support you can ask your nurse to place an order, or you may contact School Services at ext. 6-7733.


Seacrest Studios (Dallas)

The Seacrest Studios team provides therapeutic TV shows and games on the Red Balloon Network, channel 77. Every patient and family can win prizes and play live games. 


Spiritual Care and Education

Children’s Health offers chaplain services 24/7 to support our patients and their loved ones. Call 214-456-2822 at Dallas and 469-303-2822 at Plano. Haggerty Chapel (Dallas) is located on the Lower Level near Starbucks and is open 24/7 for prayer and meditation. Abbott Chapel (Plano) is located on the lower level, across from the cafeteria. 


Wagons

Wagons are available to assist families with transporting items upon discharge or for general use during your child’s stay.
